Equilibar focusing on efforts to increase access to ventilator component parts
Equilibar, a manufacturer of specialty fluid control valves, has begun focusing its research and development efforts on modifying the design of its back pressure regulators to enable them to serve as building blocks for medical ventilator systems. The company is working with multiple biomedical engineering partners as part of an effort to find alternative ventilator components that bypass the existing disrupted supply chain.
“Progress is happening quickly,” said Equilibar founder Jeff Jennings. “While we don’t know what role our technology will ultimately play, we are energized and inspired to be part of the overwhelming global collaboration that is happening now. Early testing shows promise and we are cautiously optimistic that we can make a valuable contribution.”
The company plans to produce its new devices in volume to make them as accessible and affordable as possible.
The Equilibar website has a COVID-19 Ventilator Page with regular updates. It includes links to schematics, product cutsheets and videos. Equilibar engineers are also available to answer questions and may be contacted at [email protected].
