ISA (www.isa.org) announced it will transfer its Certified Industrial Maintenance Mechanic (CIMM) certification program to the Society for Maintenance and Reliability Professionals (SMRP, www.smrp.org) at the end of the year. The CIMM certification is designed to provide an unbiased, third-party, objective assessment and confirmation of the skills of industrial maintenance mechanics. Certified Industrial Maintenance Mechanics are responsible for preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance, as well as performing troubleshooting and analysis.

SMRP is an organization that aims to: facilitate information exchange among maintenance and reliability professionals; support maintenance and reliability as an integral part of business management; and present a collective voice on maintenance and reliability issues to advance practices. The organization promotes and supports maintenance and reliability education for people, production, and quality processes to improve the work environment.

CIMM is expected to compliment SMRP’s existing Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP) certification. ISA will continue to accept applications for the CIMM program through the end of the year.
