The following highlights the technology solutions from the 2024 Innovation Awards winners.

Micro Motion 4700 Coriolis Transmitter
The Micro Motion 4700 Configurable Inputs and Outputs Coriolis Transmitter featuring Bluetooth technology allows for a retrofit adapter mounting solution to replace the legacy transmitter in existing installations without needing to replace the existing Micro Motion sensor, saving operators time and money.
The 4700 adds many capabilities, including a Bluetooth connectivity option, providing wireless communications at distances up to 50 feet between the transmitter and Emerson’s AMS Device Configurator application. Wireless access via Bluetooth technology allows users to configure the meter, access Smart Meter Verification diagnostics and access process information. Using the AMS Device Configurator application, users can quickly locate and identify transmitters and perform tasks related to configuration, device status and diagnostics. Reliability is improved because transmitters do not need to be opened for access, protecting them from exposure to environment.
It has three configurable wired I/O channels to provide connectivity options, including 4-20mA HART, frequency output, discrete output and input, and Modbus RS-485. A built-in data historian is available as an option for storing up to 13.5 days of data at a one-second scan rate, and simultaneously up to one year of data at a 5-minute scan rate.

Proline Promass U 500 Coriolis flowmeter
The Proline Promass U 500 is a single-use flowmeter tailored for biopharmaceutical applications. It offers premium performance with cGMP compliance and up to 4 I/Os. Key features include multivariable measurement, high accuracy, and enhanced reliability. The flowmeter is ideal for both upstream and downstream applications in the monoclonal antibodies (mAb) process. It consists of a disposable sensor available in four line sizes and a permanently installed base unit. Heartbeat Technology simplifies commissioning by automatically recognizing the flow range and verifying factory calibration.
The Proline Promass U 500 is innovative as the first single-use flowmeter for biopharmaceutical applications. It improves existing technology in processes by eliminating the need for cleaning and sterilization between uses, reducing downtime and contamination risks. The integration of Heartbeat Technology automates calibration verification, enhancing efficiency. Its multivariable measurement capability provides comprehensive process insights, and the built-in web server and WLAN enable easy digital integration and remote operation.

The EchoBeam family of radar sensors offers high-performance, continuous non-contact level measurement for liquids and solids. With measurement ranges of up to 98 feet (30 meters), these sensors are ideal for a wide variety of industrial applications, including water and wastewater treatment, chemical storage and bulk solids handling. Key features include:
- 80 GHz frequency modulation for precise and reliable level detection, even in challenging environments like dust, condensation and surface agitation.
- Compact, IP68-rated PVDF housings for robust operation in harsh environments.
- Bluetooth-enabled configuration via our LevelTap smartphone app for easy setup and reduced installation and maintenance times.
- Narrow beam angles (8 degrees down to 4 degrees) for accurate measurement in confined or cluttered tanks.

SITRANS LR500 Level Radar Transmitter
The SITRANS LR500 series from Siemens is the latest in advanced radar transmitters, designed for both liquid and solid applications. Utilizing 80 GHz radar technology, these transmitters offer precise level measurement with 1 mm accuracy, a fast response rate of up to 3 measurements per second and a long measurement range nearing 400 feet. Key features include advanced diagnostics with up to 100,000 points of logged data, cybersecurity features compliant with IEC 62443-4-2 and applicability in extreme process conditions, including high temperatures and hazardous areas.
The SITRANS LR500 series incorporates enhanced Process Intelligence, a field-proven firmware that adapts to changing process conditions by continually monitoring signals from the material being measured. This technology includes advanced echo processing, dynamic TVT threshold curve and Area Largest First algorithms, ensuring precise and reliable measurements. It also automatically activates near echo suppression to reduce the effects of buildup on the antenna lens, minimizing costly maintenance. The transmitter’s design prioritizes safety with features such as a Second Line of Defense seal to prevent toxic gases from escaping, reducing risks and hazardous exposure to personnel. The inclusion of SITRANS IQ Guard further enhances system health monitoring and diagnostics.
