Endress+Hauser USA and Eastern Controls, Inc. break ground on new campus
May 22, 2024 (Endress+Hauser release) — Endress+Hauser USA and its sales and service representative partner, Eastern Controls, Inc., recently broke ground on a new 88,437 square-foot facility in Edgmont, Pennsylvania, a suburb of Philadelphia. The facility will enhance Endress+Hauser's presence in the northeast and serve as the new headquarters for Eastern Controls, Inc., as both companies continue serving the region’s process measurement and control instrumentation needs.
"We are incredibly excited to expand our presence and brand in the northeast alongside our valued sales and service representative partner, Eastern Controls, Inc.," said Todd Lucey, General Manager, Endress+Hauser USA. “This milestone is significant for Eastern Controls and Endress+Hauser as we strive to better serve our customers and the communities where we live, work and play."
The new facility will house employees from Endress+Hauser and Eastern Controls, Inc. It will also allow the companies to meet the persistent product and service needs of customers in the Life Sciences, Chemical, Water/Wastewater, Food & Beverage, Power & Energy, Oil & Gas, Mining, Minerals & Metals and Pulp & Paper.
Holistically, Endress+Hauser and Eastern Controls, Inc. partner to bring everything from high-quality control valves, instrumentation and safety equipment to comprehensive service solutions and workforce development.
"This is a substantial milestone in our 55-year history,” said Cliff McLaughlin, Jr., President, Eastern Controls, Inc. “On top of offering top-of-the-line products and services, we will continue to offer and expand on various STEM and workforce development-related opportunities. We look forward to many more years of partnering with Endress+Hauser and supporting industry in the northeast."
The new campus will be home to an expanded and upgraded PTU® (Process Training Unit) and the companies’ Innovation Center. The PTU® is a state-of-the-art, full-functioning process automation facility with the latest field instruments and controls.
The unit offers engineers, technicians and students the opportunity to receive in-depth hands-on training in flow, pressure, temperature, level and analysis instrumentation along with gas detection and control valves and actuation. Customers can interact with devices and technologies before an investment is made in their plant.
Additionally, the new facility will be the home to the northeast Community Career+Education Forum (CCEF) annual event, an experience tailored to the future of STEM. CCEF connects students, parents, educators, counselors and industry professionals to raise awareness and provide information about technical careers and opportunities.
The latest groundbreaking follows another milestone within the Endress+Hauser domain. In late 2023, Endress+Hauser and its Midwest representative sales and service partner, George E. Booth Co., broke ground on a new facility in Greenwood, Indiana, which will serve as George E. Booth Co.'s headquarters. Construction of the Edgmont facility is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2025.
The project will be completed in collaboration with Genesis Property Development, Stantec, Vanderweil Engineering, DCI Engineering, Re:Vision, PSG Energy Group, Linn Architects, Rundell Ernstberger Associates, Traffic Planning and Design and The Norwood Company.
