(Endress+Hauser release) — Endress+Hauser recently unveiled the JT33 TDLAS gas analyzer, a groundbreaking system for real-time, continuous hydrogen sulfide (H2S) measurement in industrial gas streams. User-friendly and easy to maintain, the JT33 helps plant operators and owners meet gas quality standards, improve process control and ensure asset integrity.

In the evolving oil and gas industry, the demand for gas measurement systems is escalating to ensure the utmost levels of process and product quality. Strict gas quality control is essential to maintain safety and prevent shut-ins, flaring and interrupted gas delivery incidents. Measurement specifications also need meticulous documentation to meet tariff and sales agreements. Global initiatives to reduce carbon emissions have further amplified the need for swift and reliable gas measurement.

Endress+Hauser's new JT33 tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy (TDLAS) gas analyzer addresses these measurement challenges by providing continuous, real-time H2S measurement in pipelines, plants or gas streams. Utilizing field-proven differential technology, the analyzer delivers consistent high performance in demanding applications with low maintenance requirements. In natural gas, biomethane and carbon dioxide pipelines, the JT33 serves a crucial function in preventing corrosion and mitigating risk. It also optimizes gas sweetening processes and ensures CO2 quality in hydrocarbon processing plants, LNG plants and carbon capture (CCUS) processes.

Superior accuracy and reliability

The JT33's patented differential TDLAS technology, reliable metrology and NIST-traceable calibration ensure consistent and precise H2S measurements in light or heavy streams, even amidst contaminants and stream changes. Accurate and repeatable H2S measurements prevent pipeline corrosion and hydrate formation while minimizing the risk of uncontrollable events. The JT33's dependable trace-level H2S measurements also enable tight gas quality control to ensure specifications are met and documented as required in tariff and sales agreements between suppliers, carriers and end users.

Minimal downtime and maximum repair flexibility

Unlike other technologies, JT33 TDLAS gas analyzers do not require carrier gases and have virtually no consumable components, resulting in lower OPEX, maintenance costs and service requirements. Non-contact measurement ensures laser and detector components are isolated from process gas and contaminants, avoiding fouling and corrosion damage for reliable long-term operation. Interchangeable components are readily accessible and field-serviceable, allowing for quick replacements.

Additionally, the JT33 H2S analyzer offers a variety of system options for seamless integration into gas process environments. It also features a user-friendly interface with an intuitive menu, plus easy setup and operation with remote accessibility via integrated web server software. With configuration flexibility, serviceability and nearly maintenance-free operation, the JT33 offers versatility and high availability combined with low cost of ownership.

Future-ready with Heartbeat Technology

Supported by Heartbeat Technology, the analyzer's health is monitored 24/7 with on-site auto-validation and features auto-stored historical data, spectrum logging and advanced diagnostics. The JT33's verification reporting feature is particularly useful to meet measurement specification requirements during critical custody transfers. By swiftly and reliably identifying irregularities, the JT33 can mitigate costly premature media replacement and/or process shutdowns and avoid gas delivery interruptions.
