April 22, 2025 (Endress+Hauser release) — Endress+Hauser’s new Micropilot radar series perfectly matches most level applications in the Water/Wastewater industry. They are also intended for use in basic applications in the Mining, Minerals & Metals industry and for utilities across all industries. The Micropilot FMR10B, FMR20B and FMR30B devices have been
developed for customers who want maximum simplicity combined with efficiency and
worry-free measurement technology.
Increase simplicity, reduce effort
The new Micropilot devices stand for simple and efficient level measurement. They are designed for fast commissioning and easy operation. Setup sequences with help texts and illustrations guide users through the process. The digital assistant is called a “wizard”. The wizard enables even new technicians to commission an instrument in under three minutes and guide you through in-situ verifications.
In addition, the devices can be easily and reliably operated via remote access through a smartphone or tablet or directly on the device by using the color touch display. The integrated “It’s me-function,” allows any measuring device to be identified in seconds,
addressing challenges that occur when multiple measuring devices are being used in a system.
When connecting to the device via Bluetooth, a flashing display (Micropilot FMR30B) or flashing LED (Micropilot FMR10B and FMR20B) gives a clear device identification. Those LEDs and the display also provide precise information on the status of each device during operation. In case of a malfunction, the LED color changes, and the display also indicates the status. The Micropilot FMR30B, with its unique color touch display, provides additional comfortable on-device control without opening the lid. Fast and safe configuration, enabled by intuitive user interfaces and guided wizards, makes the display particularly easy to operate.
Fewer worries, more efficiency
The highly accurate measurement performance of the new radar sensors ensures process efficiency, enabled by the 80 GHz radar chip and intelligent Heartbeat Technology. The productivity of industrial processes is thereby increased. Continuous self-monitoring, on-demand device diagnostics and in-situ verification significantly reduce downtime. Such verifications can be conducted in less than three minutes without removing the device.
With Heartbeat Verification, the functionality of the measuring devices can be evaluated at any time. The verification not only involves checking if the device components still comply with their original reference values but also indicates the presence of systematic faults, which could have a negative impact on device or process performance. The patented Radar Accuracy Index (RAI), in combination with Heartbeat Technology verification, enables the traceable verification of the accuracy of the radar. The RAI is measured on-site and without process interruption. The deviation to the origin RAI fingerprint, which has been measured and stored in the device with the sensor’s manufacturing, builds the basis for evaluating the reference accuracy. This procedure is certified and documented by ISO 9001.
Furthermore, the associated effort is significantly facilitated during the installation or
renewal of the radar devices. Process interruptions, delays and waiting times, for example, when replacing devices, are reduced to a minimum. Measuring devices and suitable accessories can be exchanged on a one-to-one basis. It can be seamlessly integrated into the measurement technology for specific applications and individually as required.
Simple in every aspect
Each measuring device of the new product family is suitable for the level measurement in both liquids and solids. Because the devices are applicable for a wide range of applications and come with the relevant certifications and approvals, there is no need to keep additional measuring devices in stock.
The compact design and the versatile accessories – including a second display (RIA15), an antenna with a particularly narrow beam angle and thus an even stronger radar signal (e.g., for silos), as well as brackets for ceiling mounting – allow a simple use in a wide range of applications. Crucial details – including weather protection cover, flood protection tube and explosion protection certification concerning dust and gas (for Micropilot FMR20B, FMR30B) – ensure precise measurement signals without interruption, even under challenging conditions.
Easy and reliable in use
Despite challenges such as weather extremes, flooding, foam formation, dust, variable media or grain sizes, the new radar sensors deliver reliable measurement results. The all-around suitability and versatile accessories allow the devices to be optimized to meet each individual requirement.
The new radar sensors, therefore, are the perfect solutions for the diverse requirements of the Water/Wastewater industry. The compact design allows their use even in confined spaces, such as pump stations and sewers. The adaptable equipment makes them independent from environmental influences.
The same applies to basic Mining, Minerals & Metals applications. Whether it is significant variations in the granularity of materials, highly fluctuating fill levels or challenging weather conditions, with the Micropilot FMR10B, FMR20B or FMR30B, reliable measurements are assured, from storage silos to stockpiles. Their simple and compact design makes them particularly suitable for versatile utility applications in any industry.
